The morning is the time for contemplation, for that regular cleansing of the body and soul that keep us free of disease. Sadly while we keep out body clean with water, we neglect our minds. The Kabir festival gave those interested the chance to be bathed in the cleansing water of Kabirs poems.

The Kabir project brings together the experiences of a series of ongoing journeys in quest of this 15th century north Indian mystic poet in our contemporary worlds. Started in 2003, these journeys inquire into the spiritual and socio-political resonances of Kabirs poetry through songs, images and conversations. Some of these have been captured and expressed in documentary films, folk music videos, music CDs and poetry books. Housed at Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology.

Nimo, who along with Jay was with me on the visit, mentioned that it was the first place where he felt completely natural and worry-free entering a public bathroom barefoot. Being around the temple felt like being home.
